Use this homemade maple cinnamon granola on your yogurts or enjoy it as cereal. It’s so delicious and so easy to make. You’ll never buy store bought again
When making a goal to make more of your food from scratch, overwhelm can easily set in. Sourcing ingredients and considering how many things you regularly consume that will need to be recreated at home can leave you wondering where to start.
Luckily, granola is a snack that many people keep on hand and is also one of the easiest things to make. It contains only seven basic pantry staples and is so versatile, being used from a topping on your yogurt, to a simple trail mix base, to even cereal. This stuff taste just like honey bunches of oats. Only minus the garbage ingredients. It’s seriously so good!
Maple Cinnamon Granola Ingredients
This maple cinnamon granola, as I said, only has 7 ingredients. And most of the things you probably have on hand. As you can tell from this post and my Healthy Peanut Butter Coconut Balls post, oats are a must in our home for snacks so they make up the base of this recipe. Of course, you can always tweak the dry ingredients a bit depending on what you like in your granola. But I recommend keeping the wet ingredients the same to ensure an even coat when the granola bakes.
- 3 Cups Old Fashioned Oats
- 1 Cup Slivered Almonds
- 1 Tbsp Cinnamon
- 1/2 Tsp Salt
- 1 Tsp Vanilla
- 1/3 Cup Coconut Oil
- 1/3 Cup Maple Syrup
How to Make Granola
To make the maple cinnamon granola, start by combining all of your dry ingredients in a bowl and stir it really well so everything is well mixed together.
In a small saucepan on the stove, add your wet ingredients. These would be the coconut oil, vanilla, and maple syrup. Melt it together.
Combine all of these ingredients together by adding the coconut oil and maple mixture to the oat mixture. Make sure the oats get evenly coated so it toasts well when added to the oven. Once everything is mixed together well, spread the mixture evenly over a baking pan on parchment paper or a silicone mat.
Bake at 325 for 10 minutes. Pull the granola out, give it a good mixing up and then stick it back in the oven for another 10 minutes.
Ways to Use Homemade Granola
Granola is such a good pantry staple for many reasons. Kids love it, it’s easy to make, and it’s so versatile. Some of my favorite ways to use granola are as toppings on yogurt, granola bars, toppings or mix in on desserts and quick breads, smoothie bowls, or even cereal.
Optional Add Ins For Maple Cinnamon Granola
This recipe if very simple, which leaves room for some good add ins. Here are some healthy options.
If you think the maple cinnamon flavor in this recipe will conflict with any add ins you want to choose, simply use honey in replacement for maple syrup and omit the cinnamon altogether.
I used almonds in this recipe as well, but that is another ingredient that can simple be substituted for with any nut of choice.
